In the following description the beaches are divided into the most appropriate beaches for Families (FAM), the ideal for Natur Friends (NF) and the more frequented by the Surfers and Body Boarders (SURF/BB).

Beach of Odeceixe (FAM)
Beach of Odeceixe

You can have a pleasant walk at low tide. In the south there is a second bay, only accessible by low tide, it is called Praia da Adega. At high tide, the only access is down the cliffs.

It provides excellent conditions for canoeing and boat trips.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: Leave Aljezur in northern direction on the EN120 (Aljezur-Lisbon). Cross the border of the Algarve to the Alenteijo next to Odeceixe. Cut to the left at the entrance of the village Baiona, to a small tarred street. This road accompanies the river Seixe, taking you to it's estuary. The other option is, before crossing the bridge of the river Seixe, still on the Algarve side turn to the left and follow the road, that takes you 3 km directly to the beach of Odeceixe.

Beach of Samouqueira (NF)
Samouqueira

A small and little frequented beach. Ideal for nature lovers.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: Following the EN 120 to the north (Aljezur-Lisbon), you will find the village Rogil. At the exit of the village, turn to the left, you will find a road sign directing you to Esteveira. Follow this tarred road to the end, where it becomes an unpaved road, follow it still, ignoring the forks.

ACCESS: difficult (descent through trail)

FACILITIES: don't have

Praias de Vales dos Homens (NF)
Vale dos Homens Close to Rogil, little frequented beach, ideal for nature friends.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: In the middle of Rogil on the EN 120, you will find a road sign directing you to the Beach of Vales dos Homens. The way to the Beach of Vales dos Homens, is a tarred road.

ACCESS: stairways and passage in wood.

FACILITIES: don't have

Praia de Carriagem (NF)
Carriagem Close to Rogil, little frequented beach, ideal for nature friends.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: In the middle of Rogil on the EN 120, you will find a road sign directing you to the Beach of Carriagem. The road to the Beach of Carriagem is unpaved.

ACCESS: difficult (descend by trail)

FACILITIES: don't have

Beach of Amoreira (FAM)
Beach of Amoreira

Beautifully located beach close to the town of Aljezur, here you can take a swimm in the sea and in the river. Extensive beach and dunes. It is tending to become more and more frequented. Appreciate the detail of the black rock at the northern top of the beach, it does remind one of a reclining giant.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: In Aljezur, close to the gym "Pavilhão Municipal Gimnodesportivo", there is a signposted turning to the Beach of Amoreira. The road to the beach, 8 km along, is tarred.

ACCESS: stairways and passage in wood.

FACILITIES: bar, telephone, parking place

Beach of Monte Clérigo (FAM)
Beach of Monte Clérigo

Blue flag beach, located about 10 km from the town of Aljezur. It is an ideal beach for families because it is a large sandy beach with some facilities. Enjoy the beautiful panorama when you drive along the road to the beach.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: At the exit from the town of Aljezur to the South, you will find after some metres, a crossing point on the right, with a road sign directing to Monte Clérigo and Arrifana beach. Follow the road signs, until you come to a crossing. Turn to the right and proceed down the road which will take you to Monte Clérigo Beach.

ACCESS: easy (ramp and stairways in wood).

FACILITIES: toilet, showers, parking place, bars /restaurants, telephones, First Aid post.

SUPERVISED BEACH: yes (during the high season)

Beach of Arrifana (FAM, SURF/BB)
Beach of Arrifana

The Blue Flag beach of Arrifana, extends for a sandy beach with more than half km extension . It forms a type of small bay, that for it is less beaten by waves. In the south top a vertical rock exists in the middle of the sea, that reminds of a gigantic statue. Outsite high season it is much asked by surfers and body boarder's. Close to the ruins,once built by the Arabs, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful panorama of the Vicentina coast.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: Just as to Monte Clérigo Beach, follow the road signs which you will find on the right, some meters behind the exit of the town of Aljezur to the south. At the end of the ascent, turn to the left to the Beach of Arrifana.

ACCESS: easy (ramp amd stairways in wood); beach with easy access for deficient.

FACILITIES: toilets, showers, parking place, bar/ restaurant at the beach.

Praia de Canal (SURF/BB)
Praia Canal

Praia de Canal is a small pebble beach. Only interessting for surfers.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: Trails.

ACCESS: Easy, the trail leads direct to the beach.

FACILITIES: don't have

Beach of Vale Figueira (NF, SURF/ BB)
Vale Figueira

With an extensive sandy beach and still little frequented, the beach of Vale Figueira is located south of the town of Aljezur, close to Alfambras (zone of dispersed settlement).

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: After leaving the town of Aljezur going to the south, on the EN 120 after about 6 km you will find a crossing point to the right with a road sign directing you to Sagres, Vila do Bispo and Alfambras. Take that direction, after about 3.5 km you will find on the right a road sign to Vale de Figuera. Turn and follow that tarred road, some km's ahead it turns into an unpaved road, after 5 km you will arrive at the beach.

Beach of Bordeira (NF)
Bordeira

In spite of being close to Carrapateira, it is designated as Beach of Bordeira, because of the river that crosses at the south top of the large sandy beach with it's extensive dunes. It is a calm, little frequented beach that invites you to have a relaxing vacation.

There are years in which a pond is formed between the beach and the tarred road, where children can play freely.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: In the direction of Sagres, after about 9 km you will see the town of Bordeira to your left, but you continue straight on for 5 more km, then you will reach the town of Carrapateira. Turn right at the first crossing and follow that tarred road to the Beach of Bordeira. If you continue along, the tarred road changes into an unpaved road. Turn right at the first fork and you will find the the southern tip of the beach.

ACCESS: easy (the most comfortable access is at the southern tip.

Beach of Amado (NF, SURF/ BB)
Beach of Amado

Very much sought after by extreme sportspersons, it has already been the venue of several national and international Surf and Body Board competitions.

HOW TO GET THERE FROM ALJEZUR: At the southern exit of Carrapateira, (Aljezur-Sagres), you will find a turning to the right to Amado. Follow that tarred road along for 3 km, it will take you to the beach.

ACCESS: easy

FACILITIES: bars

SUPERVISED BEACH: yes (during the high season)
